tamil nadu public schools were warned on wednesday to conduct exams on march 2 if the ongoing pandemic was not contained by then. the warning came a day after deputy director of schools, tamil nadu, requested schools to hold exams only in case of extreme emergencies.
at the state level, a taskforce headed by the director of education has been constituted to examine various aspects related to the same, while schools have been directed to take all required precautions to ensure safety of students. other procedures such as closure of schools and job loss are all being implemented, the deputy director stated. the panel has also started discussing the issue of classes with teachers. schools should be open even if there are cases of swab positivity in nearby areas, as there is a risk that if the number of cases increases, the risk of an epidemic is high, the deputy director said.
meanwhile, the district deputy director of schools has also issued an advisory asking schools to conduct exams in their respective centres only if there is a special permission for the same from the central government. schools should follow all the norms to ensure safety of students, he added.
