How to Change the Language of Photoshop CS6

If you want to use Photoshop CS6 in a different language than the one you installed, you may be wondering how to do it. Depending on the source and version of your Photoshop, you may have different options to change the language of the interface and menus. Here are some possible ways to do it.

Option 1: Install a Language Pack from Adobe

If you downloaded Photoshop CS6 from the Adobe website, you may be able to install a language pack from the same source. Adobe offers free language packs for some languages, such as English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and more. To install a language pack, follow these steps:

Go to https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jspproduct=39&platform=Windows for Windows or https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jspproduct=39&platform=Macintosh for Mac.

Select your language from the drop-down menu and click Go.

Download the language pack file and save it on your computer.

Close Photoshop if it is running.

Double-click the language pack file and follow the instructions to install it.

Restart Photoshop and choose your new language from the Preferences > Interface menu.

Option 2: Request a Language Swap from Adobe

If you have the latest version of Photoshop CS6 (version 13.0.1 or later), you may be able to request a language swap from Adobe. This means that you can exchange your current version of Photoshop for another one with a different language. This option is only available for some languages and regions, and you may need to provide proof of purchase and serial number. To request a language swap, follow these steps:

Go to http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.html.

Select your region from the drop-down menu and click Go.

Fill out the form with your personal and product information.

Submit the form and wait for Adobe to contact you with further instructions.

Follow the instructions to download and install your new version of Photoshop with your desired language.

Option 3: Rename or Delete the Language Data File

If you have a non-English version of Photoshop CS6 that you got from somewhere else than the Adobe website, you may not be able to switch to a different language without purchasing a new copy of Photoshop. However, there is a workaround that may work for some languages. This involves renaming or deleting the language data file that controls the interface and menus of Photoshop. To do this, follow these steps:

Close Photoshop if it is running.

Go to the folder where Photoshop is installed on your computer. For Windows, this is usually C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6. For Mac, this is usually Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6.

Navigate to the Locales folder and find the subfolder that corresponds to your current language. For example, if your Photoshop is in Swedish, look for sv_SE.

Inside this subfolder, go to the Support Files folder and find the file named tw10428.dat. This is the language data file that controls the interface and menus of Photoshop.

Rename this file to something else, such as tw10428.dat.old, or delete it entirely.

Restart Photoshop and check if the interface and menus have changed to English or another default language.

Note that this method may not work for all languages and versions of Photoshop, and it may cause some errors or glitches in the program. Use it at your own risk and make sure you backup your files before trying it. 061ffe29dd
