Episode 08: Save Me

The show is back after a long hiatus and picks up momentum from the previous episode. The environmentally conscious tone was a welcome addition to the gamut of themes, albeit very sparsely, So Help Me Todd has touched in its episodes.

Episode 08: Save Me

The 화양연화 pt.0 posted on Line Webtoon, provides a graphic storytelling for the HYYH timeline. It contains 16 episodes, beginning from the prologue and ending at episode 15. Click here for the webtoon.

A flashback is shown of them all at the beach, running around and having fun as Seokjin recalls their happy time together, before being shown at the beach again, now alone, and wondering where it all went wrong, what happened, and why. The white cat then appears by his side, asking if he believes he can straighten out the errors and mistakes and save everyone if he could turn back time, to which Seokjin responds he would do anything to do this and to make them all happy again like they used to be, being shown opening up the closed curtains in front of the window in his bedroom, light flooding in and the scene then shattering like glass.

The episode begins back at the night of April 11th, where Seokjin sees Namjoon at the petrol station, though again, he drives away without talking to him. Seokjin is then driving through an alleyway, thinking to himself about how he should have said hi to Namjoon and wondering how the rest of them are doing, before he hears a thud on his car, stopping suddenly to see that it was Jungkook who fell onto his car before the scene shatters and he wakes up on his bed again, back at the morning of April 11th.

The episode begins with showing a panel sequence of Taehyung underwater as he spots Jimin sinking, being dragged down by a dark figure that is shown to be Jimin himself. Taehyung then wakes up in reality, showing the previous panels to be a nightmare, and he sees Namjoon at his desk in the container, asking him where he thinks Jimin is.

The episode begins by showing Seokjin sitting on the stairs from the end of the last episode as he has a flashback to his meeting with Yoongi in his hospital room after he saved him, where Yoongi says he thought he would finally find some peace at last in the fire and asking why Seokjin saved him, saying that he should have just left him to die.

There is a time skip to the next day, where Hoseok is sitting on the hospital staircase and a flashback of the previous episode where he overheard the doctors talking about Jimin shows, before it comes back into real time, and he hears a door opening. He looks up and sees a woman dressed in a long skirt and cap and a child in hospital clothes exit the door and begin to walk down the staircase. He gets up and begins to run down the staircase, believing this woman to be his mom, but as she begins to look around he slips, falling down the staircase. The scene shifts to Seokjin walking down the hospital corridor, where he suddenly bumps shoulders with someone and turns around, noticing that it was Jimin. As he says his name, and Jimin says his, they both turn and hear doctors running through with a patient on a stretcher, shouting that he has been injured and has fell down the stairs, and Seokjin realises that it is Hoseok, calling out his name and seeing him on the stretcher as he begins to shatter, the episode ending with the scene and Seokjin shattering into glass once again.

Later on, Hoseok is at the petrol station talking with Namjoon, and Hoseok asks whether he thinks Seokjin is in some kind of trouble, to which Namjoon agrees, but when asked for more details by Hoseok, he explains he does not know the details, and still does not understand why Seokjin came to see him. Hoseok is then shown leaving on a scooter, checking his message he sent to Seokjin whilst stopped at the traffic lights, asking to speak to him and telling him to call him when he gets his message, which Seokjin has not read yet, and he wonders what he is doing. After putting his phone away and looking up, he spots Seokjin in his car a car across from him and calls out, attempting to follow him as he turns when the lights turn green, the episode ending with the honking and screeching of cars.

Seokjin now attempts to save Taehyung, who refuses to elaborate his family home. Although Seokjin attempts to comfort him by saying he is always there, Taehyung only questions about his dreams involving the rest of the friends (as a result of the timeline resets). Later on, Seokjin tries to prevent Taehyung from killing his father, as per the original timeline and Taehyung accidentally stabs Seokjin with the glass bottle, proceeding to kill him. The timeline resets.

This is the first time Joel has referred to Ellie as "baby girl" in the show, but it's not the first time he's said those words. "Baby girl" is actually the nickname he had for his daughter, Sarah (Nico Parker), who was shot and killed by a FEDRA officer in episode 1.

"In a way Joel saves her, but more emotionally," he says. "She's just so broken, and she doesn't know what to say. She's covered in blood, and then she just looks him right in the eye. She leans forwards and hugs him. And all he can say is this thing he hasn't said in 20 years, which is 'baby girl', which is what he called his daughter."

The Last of Us episode 8 is arguably the HBO show's most faithful to date, as it lifts shots and lines exactly as they are in the PlayStation game. In fact, it's so close to the source material that there are few changes between the series and the original, aside from its closing moment, which plays out a little differently.

The Last of Us concludes on Sunday, March 12 on HBO and HBO Max in the US, and Sky Atlantic and NOW the following day in the UK. Make sure you're up to date with our The Last of Us release schedule or our breakdown of how many episodes are in The Last of Us.

Moving back to the UK after leaving a high-level development post in Zambia, Amanda Khozi Mukwashi got tired of being asked where she was really from. In this episode, she reflects on the discrimination she has faced, on the rich family history she inherited from her grandmother, and on discovering her own multifaceted identity.

Billy and Hughie drive past the motel room, with Billy revealing that The Boys are gone; taken by some black ops unit, most likely working on behalf of Vought. Hughie begs to go back and save The Boys, but Billy remarks that Frenchie and M.M. would want them to finish the job. Hughie realizes that all Billy cares about is Homelander, agreeing that Grace was right about Billy. With this, Billy leaves Hughie behind.

Frenchie and The Boys look for Kimiko, finding her strapped to a hospital bed, when the guards arrive and shoot at them. Frenchie is shot in the shoulder, passing Hughie the gun while M.M. saves Kimoko. M.M is able to save Kimiko, however she is severely weakened. Hughie runs out of bullets and The Boys are trapped behind a barricade. As they prepare to be taken, a blinding light takes out their assailants. As Starlight escorts them away, they are confronted by A-Train. Hughie sends M.M., Frenchie, and Kimiko on while he and Starlight confront A-Train. Starlight attempts to use her abilities on A-Train, however he is able barely to outrun them. A-Train admits that he is the one who killed Popclaw, but it was Hughie's fault. Just as A-Train moves to attack Hughie, he suffers a heart attack and collapses. Hughie tries to resuscitate A-Train, but Starlight takes over, saying that Homelander will never stop coming after him. She tells Hughie to run as Vought is on the way.
