One Piece Episode 571
After this episode he needed to reconstruct his life from the ground up, both to recuperate his physical being and to restore his sense of selfhood. It was a long and often agonizing process--just about as awful as his education. When he was eight, he drew a bow across a violin string for the first time, and instantly discovered his vocation. His talent and commitment would have--you would have thought earned him support and encouragement, but no such luck. His grammar school in Oxford provided one term of musical instruction. After that, his family, who were on the lower end of the lower middle class, had to pay for lessons. They were only able to buy him a violin after a win on the pools. His teacher, whom he adored, did not do well by him. When he had an audition for the Yehudi Menuhin School, he was astonished to see a piano player waiting for him. He had been given no idea that the piece, a Beethoven sonata, included an accompaniment. The audition did not go well. His teacher arranged for him to get a scholarship to a small boarding school that sounds like the kind of place John le Carre would send one of his disgraced spies. No band, no orchestra, no chorus. Robertson was bullied, and his only musical outlet was to practise by himself in an empty classroom. Somehow he kept going and earned his first sophisticated teacher, who told him to practise nothing but scales and arpeggios for four hours every day for a year. A weaker personality mine, for one--would have called it quits. 59ce067264
